Upcycled Lamp

I was once confused by the terms, recycle and upcycle, so I’ve included the definitions for both in this post. Here’s a great example of an upcycled product, an old Chinese biscuit tin touch-sensitive lamp by Jonas Merian, a freelance furniture designer and maker from Switzerland, currently based in Shanghai. When Jonas’ old tins collection grew increasingly larger, he started to think of ways to reuse them. This was how his first few projects, the biscuit box shelf, biscuit box clocks, benches and tables were conceived. The Swiss designer also likes to work with reclaimed wood from demolished houses of Shanghai’s old town. Below are pictures of his residential studio workshop where he shares with his wife Nina, a photographer.
